Work and other commitments have kept me away from my drawing for too long. I have been working on the second page of my submission when I manage to snatch a few moments. The pictures above show the fourth panel of page 2, PJ Holden noticed I was using a lot of mid shots and suggested I try coming at some of the panels from a different angle. This led me to try the panel from inside the toilet.

Judge Dredd - Cycle Of Violence: Revised Page 1
I have received some invaluable feedback on my submission via the 2000 AD Online Forum. I sent a request to the artist PJ Holden for a crit via Twitter as he had been kind enough to give advice to fellow aspiring artists in the past. PJ was quick to come back with an amazingly detailed crit that really got to the heart of where I need to focus my attention and improve. PJ also took the time to do his own layout of the page in a post on his blog which has offered a good insight into his approach. I have also had some great feedback from Simon Fraser, another established 2000 AD artist. The crits and encouragement on the forum have been a great help to me and my submission will be all the better for it.
This is my 3rd go at the first page, the essential elements remain the same but almost everything been tweaked and refined to make a, hopefully, more convincing page. Although I was happy with the final panel featuring Dredd I have made a few changes to better serve the story and adhere to the script. I altered the angle so that it is from the boys perspective looking up and reduced the amount of shading to Dredd’s face to give him a younger appearance as the sequence is set in the past. I shall continue my amends to the remaining pages applying the good advice that has been such a great help.

Judge Dredd - Cycle Of Violence: Revised Pages 1, 2 & 3
I’ve made a few changes to the first three pages of my submission after all the good advice I received on the 2000 Ad Online Forum: link
I have altered Klein’s features on pages 2 and 3 so that they are more consistent with the first page and given his mother a bit more clothing. I’ve cut back on the linework shading and added a lot more background detail. I also completely re-did the 5th panel on page 2 because it was deviating from the script.
Page 6 of my submission to 2000 AD. Work in progress, the second panel needs a fair bit of work before it is complete.

Page 4 of my submission to 2000 AD. I’m not happy with the bottom cityscape. It needs to be a lot more intense futuristic and overwhelming.

Page 3 of my submission to 2000 AD. Work in progress, the last couple of panels are not finished and the first one needs some work. I have posted these pages on the 2000 AD Online forum for some feedback which has been very helpful [link]
